Biography of Rev. Fr. Nwogbu Celestine Chidi 

Rev. Fr. Celestine Nwogbu is a Nigerian Catholic priest serving in the Diocese of Enugu, where he holds the role of parish priest at Assumption Catholic Church in Nkwo Nike, Enugu State. As a dedicated member of the diocesan clergy, he contributes to the spiritual formation and pastoral care of the faithful in the Nkwo Nike Deanery, one of the key administrative divisions of the diocese. His ministry emphasizes evangelization, sacramental preparation, and community building in a region known for its vibrant Catholic population amid Nigeria's southeastern heartland.

Priestly Ordination

Fr. Nwogbu was ordained to the priesthood on July 4, 2009, as part of a class of diocesan priests for the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. This ordination places him among the younger generation of clergy in the diocese, which was established in 1962 and now serves over 1.3 million Catholics across 188 parishes. 

Priestly Ministry and Assignments

Since his ordination, Fr. Nwogbu has served faithfully in various pastoral roles within the Diocese of Enugu, reflecting the Church's emphasis on inculturation and local mission in Igbo land. Key highlights of his ministry include:

• Early Assignments (2009–Mid-2010s): As a newly ordained priest, Fr. Nwogbu served as an assistant priest in one of the diocese's urban  parishes, gaining experience in liturgy, catechesis, and youth ministry.
• Parish Leadership: By the mid-2010s, Fr. Nwogbu was appointed parish priest at St. Anthony Catholic Parish in Ogui New Layout, Enugu, where he led the community in pastoral initiatives, including liturgical celebrations, faith formation programs, and social services. Under his guidance, the parish focused on strengthening family life and evangelization efforts.
• Current Role: Fr. Nwogbu serves as the Parish Priest of Assumption Catholic Church, Nkwo Nike. In this role, he oversees a dynamic parish community, supported by vicars such as Rev. Fr. Aneke Godsent and Rev. Fr. Onyia Gerald. His leadership involves coordinating the Parish Pastoral Council, supporting catechists in religious education, and addressing local needs such as youth engagement and charitable works. The parish is active in the Nkwo Nike Deanery, participating in diocesan events.
